Overview of Program
The Adult Learning Center's Early Childhood Adventures Program, accredited by the National Association of Young Children (NAEYC) for excellence, offers A Community of Quality and Joy for children from 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten.
Our goals are to instill in children love of learning and to foster growth in all areas of development. We strive to give them a jump-start on school success, encourage them to be enthusiastic lifetime learners, and give them the self-confidence they need to make sound decisions.
Our curriculum is designed to stimulate children's physical, social, emotional and language growth through play. Our professional staff provides a nurturing, safe and predictable environment that invites children to be actively involved in their learning, to make choices, to observe and to succeed. Promotion of social-emotional growth in each child is a daily goal.
Our daily schedule offers a balance between active and quiet times, large and small group activities, indoor and outdoor play, and child-initiated or teacher-facilitated activities.
What we offer
Our child care programs, designed to meet the early care and educational needs of young children from 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten, are
as follows:
| Infants |
Babies 6 weeks to 12 months old are encouraged by our philosophy that infants "can do." Staff provides a nurturing, warm, stimulating environment and is dedicated to meeting your infant's every need.
|
| Infant/Toddlers |
The older infant and younger toddlers, 12 months – 2 years, learn through "messy art" projects, manipulatives and nursery gym. Staff sing, play, dance, and read with children to develop their language skills.
|
| Toddlers |
Our group of active toddlers, from 2 to 3 years of age, are crawling, walking, talking, laughing, climbing and are in constant motion.
|
| Transitional Toddlers |
Our older, exceptionally physically active toddlers, ages 2 years 9 months – 3 ½ years are exploring and moving very quickly. They are an incredibly lovable group of children who are just beginning to play with others and display much excitement about their environment.
|
| Preschool |
Children 3 ½ - 4 ½ years old learn through "play with a purpose" in an environment that invites them to manipulate materials, ask questions, and find answers.
|
| Pre-Kindergarten |
| children 4 ½ - 5 ½ years old learn the skills they need to succeed in school. Structured centers, activities and themes give children pre- reading, writing and math skills to get ready for kindergarten. |
